Turn revenue insight into practical progress.
A London law firm is looking for a Revenue Controller who can build trusted relationships with partners and keep matters moving from work in progress to billing and collection. The role combines close attention to the numbers with clear, constructive conversations about the next action.
This is a permanent, full-time role with an illustrative salary of £55,000–£65,000 a year. The example working pattern is three days in the London office and two days from home, with some flexibility around month-end priorities. Working hours are 35 hours a week, Monday to Friday.
What you would own
- Review WIP and outstanding debt across an agreed practice portfolio, turning aged balances into clear action plans.
- Meet partners and fee earners regularly to agree billing priorities, resolve queries and improve matter hygiene.
- Coordinate billing deadlines, client billing guidelines and eBilling submissions with the wider finance team.
- Track progress against agreed actions and explain the drivers behind revenue and lock-up reporting.
- Identify recurring bottlenecks and help colleagues improve the way matters are set up, billed and followed up.
What you would bring
- Experience in legal revenue control, billing or a closely related professional-services finance role.
- Confidence discussing financial information with partners and fee earners, including sensitive or overdue actions.
- Strong Excel skills and experience using a legal finance system to investigate and explain balances.
- An organised approach to competing deadlines and a willingness to follow queries through to resolution.
- Practical knowledge of matter billing, client requirements and working-capital reporting.
Experience with eBilling and reporting tools would be useful. You would receive an introduction to the firm’s systems, portfolio and working practices.
